MANY KIND OF FRUIT IN MANDAILING
In this page, I want to tell you about many kind of and fruit in my town, Panyabungan, Madina (Mandailing Natal), North Sumatra, Indonesia. Maybe there has been know many people about Durian, Rambutan, Langsat, Orange and many others that has been famous in this word. But now I want to tell every body, that there are many fruits in Mandailing that unknown by people in outside Mandailing. I will not say the all, but I just want to tell a part of many kind of fruit in Mandailing Godang.
1. Pultak-Pultak: This fruit is as a big as grape. The plant of this fruit just about 1 Meter. The color of fruit is green. When it is going mature, it will change to be yellow. The fruit covers by wrapper like curtain. The leaf of this plant is as a half of a marquise leaf. Usually this plant grows around the rice field. The taste of this fruit is like marquise. Pultak-pultak fruit is as a big as grape. No thing sold in every market in Mandailing. But many children in Mandailing Godang knows that this fruit is very sweet. And many children likes it. Including me when I was a young boy.
2. Jontian. This fruit s a little bit acid. The model of jontian is like duku, but covered by hard skin. To open this fruit, we shoul pull by our finger until broken. We will find the fruit inside. The color of fruit and the skin is orange. There is many jontians we find in the market in Mandailing. Like in Panyabungan, Mompang, Sinonoan, Malintang, Kayu Laut, Laru, Maga, Kota Nopan, Longat, Gunung Baringin, and many other market in Mandailing Godang (Madina) Indonesia. The price of this fruit is about Rp 3,000 /Kg. Or if we have 1 USD, we will get 4 Kg. It is very cheap. I don't know why no body in Mandailing sell this fruit to outside of Mandailing Natal (Madina). But every body in Mandailing knows abot Jontian fruit. We willl find jontian in Mandailing 3 months in a year. Only 3 month,
3. Apundung. Apundung is a fruit as a half big of Marquise. The color of skin is orange and the color of fruit inside is grey. It is a little bit acid. But many people like it. We will find Apundung in three months in a year too. The price is similar with jontian. The skin of apudung is not hard like jontian. The skin is very thick and soft. Easy to open or to break it. There is some water inside the skin. It is very suitable to eat in the noon. Not in the night time, cause it is a little bit acid. Aik-aik. This friut is very similar with duku. Many people can not compare this fruit, cause the skin and measure is very similar. But its are difference. Duku is a sweet fruit, and Aik-aik is very a little bit acid. The fruit of duku is very solid but the fruit of Aik-aik is like liquit. Because it almost being liquiet, when we break this fruit, we should put in our mouth, It is the difference of Duku and Aik aik. The price of this fruit is 2 Kg for 1 USD. It is very cheap. Isn't it?.
4. Buah Pora (Kedondong). Kedondong fruit is as a big of Marquise. But these type are not same. Marquise is soft fruit, but Kedondong more hard. The skin of Kedondong is almost united with content inside. So to open this fruit must use knife. At the beginning, the color is green. When it is mature, it will going to yellow. Inside of Buah Pora is a little bit hard to. The shed of this fruit is not like ball, but like the root. If our theeth is not so good, we should part with knife this fruit before eat. Cause the root of shed can leave between our teeth. So better we part by knife and we eat parting or Buah Pora one
slide by one slide. The plant of Buah Pora or Kedondong is Monocotile. the tree is very high. Some time until 10 Meter. In one three, we can take many Kilo Gram of Kedondong. Some time until 200 Kg. The price is 4 kg for 1 USD. The cheap fruit in western world if we bring this Kedondong to western country. Many seller we find in every market in Mandailing. Even in Medan, the capital or North Sumatra. So if you
want to know about the kind of fruit in Mandailing Indonesia, you have known a part.
I think, it is enought with my explanation about these fruits. The name of the else fruit in Mandailing Natal is Rumbio, Sihim, Buah Malaka, Camin-camin, Incung, and many other. I don't promise, but if I have time, I will tell you one by one.
